Gifting You With A City that Will Never Be Isolated - Chapter 10.2
Chapter 10 (2)
Before going to bed, she was reading the books recommended by Cheng Jing Bo as it was usual for her, for a while before bed and just as she was about to close her eyes and she received a text message from Mu Zibei.
“I had been talking with Brother Cheng until now.”
Bai Ziren felt a sense of helplessness wash over herself.
Didn’t she tell him not to disturb others at night?
“He promised to give me a gift and told me a joke, but I couldn’t laugh.”
“What was the joke?”
“A rich skeleton went into a bar and told the waiter that it wanted a glass of whiskey and a rag. I couldn’t understand it, but he refused to tell me what was funny about it.”
Bai Ziren thought about it and tried to decipher the meaning, “Because you want to drink and wipe?”
“Hahahahahahahahahaha, Brother Cheng’s joke is too bullying, my stomach hurts so much.”
“…” Bai Ziren was even more speechless.
What a cold joke.
It was only after she repeated the joke twelve times in her mind, did the corners of her mouth twitched unknowingly.
It does sound a bit funny.
On Wednesday evening, Bo Ziren stayed in the office of the supervisor to help him with arranging the coursework, and by the time she was done, it was already late. Feeling hungry she walked to a street behind the campus area to get a meal, and unfortunately, she met Fang Zheng and an unknown school staff personnel coming out of the nearby booth.
In the cold weather, the two of them wore very thin clothes. One of them didn’t even wear a jacket. He wore one top that was an undershirt that too with his sleeves folded.
Bo Ziren walked for a bit and found that they had been talking and laughing behind her all this while, and she could hear the sound of a can being kicked.
It was strange. The laughter felt very deliberate as if they wanted it to ring in her ears.
Realizing that something was wrong, Bai Ziren speeded up her pace, but it seemed to no avail, as they quickly chased after her.
The two shadows seemed to follow her forever and she wasn’t able to shake them off no matter what she did.
When she reached the intersection, she subconsciously walked in the direction of a brightly lit and bustling road.
“You there, stop.”
The hood of Bai Ziren’s down jacket was pulled back rudely very rudely, she was forced to stop
What came into her view was Fang Zheng’s face.
It looked like he drank alcohol. His cheeks were flushed as he stared at Bo Ziren, and said in a bad mood, “Why did you embarrass me in the cafeteria that day? Just because I gave you a note, do you think I still like you? You think too much. I have seen a lot of women like you. They know how to pretend and like to put on a high-profile act. They don’t even bother talking to boys they look down on. Who do you think you are treating yourself as a goddess?”
Bai Ziren couldn’t understand his nonsense. Her hand reached into her pocket to find her cell phone for the first time but her wrist was caught by the guy next to her.
He went closer to her face and said softly, “Don’t worry, no one wants to hurt you, just giving you two choices, either make-up with my little bro or apologize to him.”
Bo Ziren’s hand against the screen of the phone broke into a cold sweat, as she was thinking about how to get rid of them.
“Choose quickly, we don’t have much time.” The boy increased the pressure he was putting on her wrist.
“Don’t touch me.” Bo Ziren said sharply.
“Who is going to touch you? Don’t take yourself as some big thing.” As he spoke, he got closer to Bo Ziren.
Within a second or two, Bo Ziren lifted her foot and kicked him in the shins. He bend down but didn’t let go of her hand and said in a fierce manner, “A girl who fights is so not cute. You look so thin and weak, but your strength is really huge…”
