Chapter 21.2
Do you know she’s beautiful?
💖
Bo Ziren left the psychological clinic and walked down the corridor between the two medical buildings to find Cheng Jingbo. Today was the day his friend Wu Wei was being transferred from the intensive care unit to the general ward. He’d called her yesterday to find out when she would be finished with her appointment.
When she arrived at the entrance to the intensive care unit, she realized she’d arrived at the exact time of his transference. The entrance had a queue of family members waiting anxiously.
Bo Ziren was able to quickly spot Cheng Jingbo. He was listening intently to Xue Ling, but as her eyes rested on him, he glanced up, meeting her gaze with a smile. He walked over and asked how her session went with Chen Zhe. She replied that it was the same as usual.
As she spoke, she noticed that he was quietly looking at her face, his gaze never wavering down, as if he hadn’t noticed the fact that she was wearing a dress.
A minute later, the ICU door opened, and Wu Wei’s hospital bed was wheeled out. The nurse called out to his family, and Xue Ling rushed over to her husband’s side, making sure to look back and call for Cheng Jingbo.
Bo Ziren tried to follow him as he went towards Wu Wei, but just then two men in front of her started arguing. One of them, a young man, violently pushed the other, an old man, causing him to nearly fall to the ground. the old man turned to the young man, his face furious, and immediately pushed him back, berating him harshly. The two immediately broke into an all-out fight.
Bo Ziren wasn’t sure what to do as the violence escalated in front of her. She tried to move aside as the young man, his face now red with anger, jumped back and almost bumped into her, but the area was too packed for her to be able to leave.
Hearing the sudden commotion, Cheng Jingbo turned back. He reached into the crowd and pushed the man out of her way, then pulled her towards him. Bo Ziren found the tip of her nose suddenly pressed up against his neckline, and when she raised her eyes, she was met with his downward gaze. His eyes seemed to hold a question in them, but Bo Ziren didn’t understand, until a second later.
“The zipper of your dress has come undone,” he said.
“……”
She reached out to the side of her dress and felt that the zipper had indeed opened up. However, when she tried to pull it back up, she found that it stuck.
“Do you need my help?”
She didn’t say anything as she felt her fingers begin to shake.
He quietly lowered his hand and grasped the side of her skirt, finding the zipper. He slowly pulled it up, his voice sounding above her head, “Don’t worry, it’s just a little tight.”
She secretly took a deep breath as the distance between them became too close. A thin layer of sweat formed on her palms.
Finally, she heard him say, “It’s good now.”
She let out a sigh of relief.
He retreated a couple of steps back, then said, “I’m going in first. Wait for me by the door and try to find a place with fewer people.”

Wu Wei was successfully transferred to the general ward, and after settling down, he was able to smile weakly at the people who had come to visit him.
Upon seeing Bo Ziren standing at the door though, he slowly raised his arm and pointed at her, then at Cheng Jingbo. He still found it difficult to speak.
“She is a good friend of Jingbo,” said Xue Ling gently, grasping her husband’s hand. “Does this answer what you were asking?”
Wu Wei nodded slowly, then painfully rasped out, “Do you know that she’s beautiful?”
Bo Ziren felt her face flush with embarrassment right away, but Cheng Jingbo, as per his usual attitude, stayed quiet, portraying nothing. He raised his eyes to the monitor attached to Wu Wei’s arm through several wires, monitoring the speed of the infusion.
There was a long moment of silence, and just as Bo Ziren thought the comment would go ignored, she heard that familiar voice speak.
“I knew it from the first time I saw her. How could I not know this after having her by my side for so long?”
Cheng Jingbo then picked up a bottle of medicine and immersed himself in studying the instructions on the label.
Xue Ling lovingly massaged her husband’s palm.
“If you say these things, make sure you know that someone will be jealous,” she said with a smile.
Wu Wei tilted his head towards her and gave her an innocent expression.
“I’m talking about myself,” Xue Ling added.
After this exchange, the ward was slowly filled with an aura of peace and tenderness, until a new voice broke the calm ambiance.
“I finally found you,” Lu Ning said as she walked in carrying a fruit basket. “Sis, why aren’t you answering your phone?”
Xue Ling remembered that she’d left her phone in her bag, and quickly apologized to Lu Ning.
She put down the basket, and swept her gaze around the room, before addressing Bo Ziren.
“What a coincidence that you’re here as well. I’ve finished writing the interview article. I’ll hand it in once I’ve gotten it checked.”
“What interview article?” asked Cheng Jingbo.
“She didn’t tell you? It was an interview with a young person for our weekly magazine. Her mentor was the one who organized it.”
“Is it alright for me to read it in advance?” Cheng Jingbo asked politely.
Lu Ning nodded her head.
“There’s nothing inconvenient about it. When the time comes, everyone will take a look. Anyway, give me your email and I’ll send it to you.”
“Thank you.”

After Cheng Jingbo and Bo Ziren left, Xue Ling took the opportunity to apologize to Lu Ning.
“Ning Ning, I’m really sorry about what happened. I helped you arrange a meeting with Cheng Jingbo without fully knowing the situation. It must have been embarrassing for you. You were right, Miss Bo is his partner.”
Lu Ning still felt bitter about the whole situation but she pretended not to care.
“It’s fine. I admit that I had a good impression of Cheng Jingbo, but it didn’t get to the point where I liked him. Now that he has someone he likes, I’m at most a little disappointed, but I’ll get over it soon. Speaking of which, I really admire him though. That girl has a personality flaw that’s considered a big deal to accept.”
“What personality flaw?”
“Sis, you haven’t seen it yet, have you? She is autistic.”
“You can’t casually talk like that! Miss Bo is just a little introverted.”
“It’s not that simple. I visited her and found out that her parents divorced very early on. She hasn’t been loved since she was a child. I asked her if she’d ever had a regular circle of friends, and she said no. I asked her how she usually alleviates stress, and she said that it helped when she stayed alone. The more I listened to her, the fishier she became. Also, her eyes are very strange and abnormal. You know that I’m minoring in psychology. I know when someone is suffering from mental problems.”
“You haven’t written all this in, right?” Xue Ling asked, feeling suddenly wary.
“Of course it wasn’t written in a very specific way, but the general situation is mentioned.”
Xue Ling felt an indescribable feeling that if Cheng Jingbo saw this interview, he would not be very happy.
