- Chapter 11 - Zheng Baozhu and Qu Zhi Were Completely at Odds. :) (1)
Zheng Baozhu and Qu Zhi Were Completely at Odds. 🙂
When Zheng Baozhu was in high school, the college entrance exam was divided into arts and sciences. In her second year of high school, Zheng Baozhu had been assigned to a class with Qu Zhi, and they sat at neighboring tables.
The first class was a self-introduction session. Due to the intense learning tasks, the class advisor only asked everyone to say a few words from their positions. The students approached the task casually and just stated their names before quickly sitting back down.
Zheng Baozhu had been practicing what she was going to say when Meng Yaxin stood up.
“Hello, everyone. My name is Meng Yaxin, Meng from Mencius, Wen Yaxia, and Jin Xin.”
Zheng Baozhu’s eyes lit up as she looked at the fair and pure girl who wore a high ponytail and a smile on her face. Plenty of girls who looked and dressed like Meng Yaxin filled their high school. To Zheng Baozhu, however, Meng Yaxin had a unique light that made her shine brighter than the others.
“Three gold? What a noble name…” Zheng Baozhu sighed in admiration, “It’s as bright as mine, Zheng Baozhu.”
Next to her, the corner of Qu Zhi’s mouth almost imperceptibly.
Meng Yaxin had finished her introduction and already sat down, but Zheng Baozhu’s gaze remained on her. “Meng Yaxin, Zheng Baozhu. Destined to be friends.”
Qu Zhi laughed mockingly.
Zheng Baozhu had grown used to his antics and did not want to talk to him anyway. After class, she went to find and make friends with Meng Yaxin. Zheng Baozhu was beautiful and knew how to fool people. To put it in today’s terms, she had social bullsh*t syndrome. She and Meng Yaxin soon became good friends, and their relationship continued to this day.
However, there was something Qu Zhi said that Zheng Baozhu could not let slide.
“What do you mean because there are three gold coins in her name?” Zheng Baozhu snorted coldly looking straight at Qu Zhi, “Fate made us good friends.”
“…” Qu Zhi snorted softly. “Could it be the fate of the three gold coins and the pearl?”
“…heh.” Zheng Baozhu stubbornly raised her chin. “There’s no point in trying to create a rift between us girls.”
His lips curled in disdain. “You plastic friends still need me to stir up trouble?”
“You know, some people can’t make friends themselves, so they dismiss others’ friendships as plastic.” Zheng Baozhu picked up a cold cucumber and took a bite. “Ugh, it’s really sour.”
Qi Sheng, “…”
Afraid the two large toddlers with him would fight, Qi Sheng hurriedly jumped to smooth things over. “What’s this? Is this the information from the Talent Community?”
He grabbed Zheng Baozhu’s property information as if it were a floatation device, trying to divert everyone’s attention. “Miss Baozhu, do you also want to buy a house here?”
Qu Zhi frowned and looked at his friend incredulously, “Miss Baozhu?”
Qi Sheng said, “I heard the waiter call her that.”
Qu Zhi, “…”
How could this person work at the same company that he did?
Zheng Baozhu saw no problem with the way Qi Sheng addressed her. She immediately started chatting with him. “Yeah, isn’t it going to open on Saturday? I went to the sales department this morning to find out.”
“Oh, really? I want to go with Old Qu on Saturday too!” Qi Sheng had already begun imagining their future. “If we all bought a house there, wouldn’t that make us neighbors?”
“…” Zheng Baozhu had suddenly lost the desire to live there. “Do you all have invitations?”
Qi Sheng nodded. “That’s right.”
Zheng Baozhu blinked, a little curious, “Then if you guys buy a house there, does the government provide a subsidy?”
“Yes, the current policy is pretty good.”
Zheng Baozhu looked at him with envy and leaned in his direction. “Mr. Qi, do you have a girlfriend?”
The usual carefree Qi Sheng had blushed at her question and stuttered, “No, no ah…” He swallowed nervously. Looking at the overly beautiful face in front of him, he stammered “Miss Bao…Miss Bao Zhu…do you have any thoughts?”
Zheng Baozhu smiled at him and said, “I was thinking that if you don’t have a girlfriend, wouldn’t it be convenient to bring me in on Saturday? I would also like to see the units.”
Qi Sheng, “…”
Oh, so that’s the case. He was overthinking it. 🙂
“What’s so inconvenient about this?” Qi Sheng feigned a hearty smile as he replied, as if to hide his embarrassment. Sitting beside him, Qu Zhi snorted and laughed. Though he’d clearly done so under his breath, it sounded like thunder in Qi Sheng’s ears.
……Qu Zhi must have read his mind!
Fortunately, Zheng Baozhu did not see through Qi Sheng’s cover-up. She said with a smile, “Thank you. I went to the sales department to register today. They said that they would call me when the second batch was opened, but I still want to join the fun on Saturday.”
“Heng Heng, what’s the matter? Don’t be so polite with me.” Qi Sheng laughed out loud and managed to get past his previous awkwardness. At the dinner table, he and Zheng Baozhu carried the conversation. Qu Zhi barely spoke. After the meal, Qi Sheng added Zheng Baozhu’s WeChat.
On the way back to the Science Park, Qi Sheng was still complaining, “Old Qu, you said Miss Baozhu doesn’t have a mind or soul, but I think she’s much more interesting than you.”
Qu Zhi’s expression was indifferent. “Yes, the two of you are indeed alike.”
“……” Qi Sheng looked at him and clicked his tongue. “I suddenly feel like I’m doing charity by being your friend. I’m so generous.”
Qu Zhi, “……”
“No wonder Miss Baozhu would rather ask me for help than go to the house with you.”
“……” Qu was silent for a moment before turning his head to look at him. “What data did you want me to help you with this morning? Why don’t you ask the interesting Zheng Baozhu to interpret it for you?”
Qi Sheng, “……”
He looked at the departing figure and chased after him. “Hey, don’t be so stingy. I’m just joking with you.”
“Being a colleague with you is like doing charity. I’m so generous.”
Qi Sheng, “……”
Qi Sheng bet that with a personality like this, Qu Zhi was 100% to blame for the fact that Zheng Baozhu and Qu Zhi were completely at odds. 🙂
