Ch 21: Truly Pretty (2)
After lunch, Xia Zhijun asked what he had in mind at that moment. “What do you want to do this afternoon?”
Gu Siyi thought for a while and said, “I don’t have much time to go back to school. Let’s go to the shopping mall. I want to buy something to take back to school.”
“Will you continue to buy books?” Xia Zhijun teased.
Gu Siyi: “…”
I don’t want to care about this person!
After the lunch break, Xia Zhijun called a taxi and took Gu Siyi to the shopping mall.
Gu Siyi went to several boutiques bought many things. After buying a cute pillow, she got tangled in front of the slippers shelf and asked Xia Zhijun for his opinion. “Which one is better?” She asked.
This was the first time Xia Zhijun had been shopping with a girl. He finally understood why there were so many jokes about men shopping with women on the Internet. The girl next to him, seemingly slender and thin, how could she have so much energy? She was so happy to just walk around. Even after choosing between tons of different products, she wasn’t tired at all.
He faced Gu Siyi who was cutely still waiting for a response from him. “Anything will do.”
When she finally turned to him, she noticed him instantly looking away, trying to hide his tired eyes. “You can find a place to sit.”
“It’s okay.” Xia Zhijun’s eyes were wandered off to the pairs of slippers. In his eyes, they were almost the same, but in order to be less perfunctory, he casually pointed to a pair and said, “Those are good.”
“Hey, I thought the same thing, that’s it!” Gu Siyi happily took off the pair.
Gu Siyi moved to other areas, and Xia Zhijun walked alongside her, helping her push the shopping cart, which was full of items.
Xia Zhijun looked at the dazzling array of things and couldn’t help but add a comment. “It seems that your future husband can’t do without money.”
Gu Siyi felt a little embarrassed at his statement. “Some of them, I’m buying for my classmates.”
She explained further to improve her credibility. “That pillow was bought for Xiang Li, she likes mobile game themes very much, and the water cup was bought for Xinyi. She said my cup looked nice last time, so I bought the same one for her. The slippers are for Weiwei—”
Xia Zhijun raised his eyebrows. “Are you a purchasing agent?”
“No, it’s just a small gift for them.” Gu Siyi was still more grateful to her friends than they thought. When she was being ignored by everyone else, they took the initiative to walk to her. She wanted to be nicer to all the people who were good to her during her times of low.
“Oh.” Xia Zhijun faintly responded. So she was united and friendly with her classmates.
After Gu Siyi bought almost everything, she turned to Xia Zhijun with an excited look on her face. “I’ll go to the snack shop over there to buy something to eat, It’s troublesome to carry things around. Just wait for me in the rest area here. I’ll be back soon.”
“Okay.” Xia Zhijun sat down and played with his cell phone.
He dressed very casually, with a light-colored shirt and dark trousers. He was lazy and casual, but that couldn’t hide his cold and noble temperament and appearance. Even when he was sitting, his guise was particularly eye-catching. Passing women looked back frequently, and some hid in the corner, secretly photographing him. But those who dared to chat with him, without exception, left unhappily.
Not long after, Gu Siyi came back with her things, Xia Zhijun put away his phone and got up.
Just as he was about to pick up the bags beside him, Gu Siyi handed him a paper bag. “For you.”
“???” Xia Zhijun took it and opened it.
“Strawberry chocolate, rainbow candies, and marshmallows … I specially selected highly praised Internet celebrity snacks. Anyways, they are all your favorite sweets.” Gu Siyi found out that Xia Zhijun likes to eat sweets, and sometimes he would nibble on a piece during his early self-study. She couldn’t help but remember how handsome he looked when eating sweets while reading.
“Why did you buy these for me?” Xia Zhijun asked.
“I want to give it to you. Thank you for spending a nice weekend with me.” Gu Siyi smiled.
“Heh….” The little girl was pretty good at buying people’s hearts.
The two went back to school together and Xia Zhijun carried everything alone as usual. Gu Siyi was very adaptable. She was embarrassed the first time, but this time was silently experiencing the feeling of being taken care of by a boy.
It’s not bad, she quietly glanced at the tall and handsome Xia Zhijun next to her, bending her lips.
Xia Zhijun couldn’t help but notice her change in expression. “Why are you laughing?”
“Huh? Am I smiling?”
“Stupid.” He scoffed lightly.
Along the way, people kept saying hello to Gu Siyi.
“Hi, Si Yi ~ welcome back to school~”
“Welcome back, welcome back~”
“Siyi spent the weekend with my brother, heh~”
“Si Yi~ Do you want to go to dinner together?”
Gu Siyi responded hurriedly to all kinds of people. After she was finally free for a while, Xia Zhijun said, “Your popularity is growing.”
Gu Siyi chuckled. “It’s not usually the case. Today is special. Do you want to know why?”
“I don’t want to know.” He started coldly.
“…” Gu Siyi, who sold Guanzi, was directly buried in a pit by someone.
She breathed a sigh of relief and said earnestly. “You will end up with no friends if you keep talking like this, you know?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“Okay, continuing with the topic just. It’s not that I’m very popular, it’s because you were by my side today, and we went back to school together. They greeted me enthusiastically to attract your attention and let you look at them.”
Gu Siyi did not speculate out of thin air. Those girls talked about it during their daily gossip, they even asked Gu Siyi to put in a few more words to try to impress the male god.
“You don’t know how popular you are among girls. They also said that they have to queue up to please their future sister-in-law.” She couldn’t help but laugh again. Thanks to him, she experienced the feeling of being supported by girls.
“Sister-in-law?” Xia Zhijun glanced at her.
Why did he feel that her cheerful appearance was particularly bad?
Gu Siyi was overwhelmed with joy. “Yes, my sister, who is a fake tiger, she has a lot of light.” (A fake tiger is a pig who paints itself in tiger’s stripes to pass itself as a real one – In other words, a good person trying to appear dangerous to protect themselves.)
Before he went downstairs to the dormitory, Xia Zhijun handed the things back to Gu Siyi. “I have something to do, go back to your room by yourself.”
“Well, thank you, Brother Xia, you must be quite busy, yet you’ve taken time out for me,” she said, taking her items again.
Xia Zhijun looked at her with a very serious expression. “Don’t call me brother in the future.”
“I don’t have such a cheap sister.” Xia Zhijun said coldly and left.
At that moment, Gu Siyi realized what it meant to have extreme happiness and sorrow at the same time. What it meant to be struck by lightning but pretend to be normal, and what it meant to make a fortune in a muffled voice. She regretted her act of strength.
