Little Sweetheart - Chapter 9
Strange Feelings (2)
“Sister, are you chanting scriptures? Your lips are moving … ?”
Gu Siyi raised her eyes and they landed upon a curious Lu Jiaye who was squatting gazing level with her. Looking up again, she noticed a bottle of mineral water in his hands.
“Could you give me a drink, please?” Gu Siyi asked politely, licking her lips.
“This?” Xia Zhijun shook the mineral water in his hand.
“Yes please.” Gu Siyi nodded, her eyes burning.
Xia Zhijun hesitated a little and was about to speak, but Gu Siyi spoke first, “Please, save a life and build a seventh-level Buddha, I am dying of thirst!”
Xia Zhijun: “——”
She took the source of life, unscrewed the bottle cap, raised her face, and poured it into her mouth.
She drank the remaining half bottle of water in one go.
Xia Zhijun looked at the girl’s cherry-like lips, and there was a trace of embarrassment between his brows.
As Xia Zhijun was immersed in the indescribable emotions, Lu Jiaye saw the problem and asked her, “Did you not take any water?”
“When I went to get it, it was all taken away.” Gu Siyi said helplessly. She was hydrated, and her voice sounded a little more moisturized, not as dry and dumb as before.
“Wait, Brother Lu will get you another bottle.” After that, Lu Jiaye got up and left.
“Hey, no need-” Before Gu Siyi finished speaking, Lu Jiaye had already gone far.
Xia Zhijun looked at Gu Siyi and said, “Next time you have this situation, come and get water from us.”
“Ok. Thanks” Gu Siyi swept away the previous depression, her lips curled up, her head tilted, and a witty smile appeared, “Thank you for the half-bottle of life-saving water. You saved me twice, thank you very much.”
He cleared his throat and said indifferently, “It’s nothing.”
When Lu Jiaye brought the water over, the break time was almost up, and everyone returned to their teams.
After being rehydrated, Gu Siyi stood back at the back of her team and was once again called out for having the best stance in her team. That boosted her morale a bit more. Regardless of whether she was standing in the army, saluting or kicking, she was the most standard one, with a straight and neat posture, full of energy.
The instructor was very satisfied with her, praised her many times, and asked her to demonstrate at the front of the team. When the instructors held a group meeting, he arranged for Gu Siyi to go out and lead everyone for training.
Faced with these girls, Gu Siyi said, “Everyone is a classmate of the same grade, let’s get to know each other, and then report the names according to the number.”
The other girls were not pleased with Gu Siyi giving them orders, however, her being a temporary junior instructor, they had to obey. So, one by one they began to report their names. Gu Siyi glanced over their faces, listening carefully to their voices. She was stuck. The fifth and sixth girls in the third row were the ones who whispered and criticized her before. Their names were Xu Jie and Shu Yu.
After reporting their names, Gu Siyi arranged for everyone to play in a row. The postures of the two of them were indeed terrible, and she felt justified to find their faults.
Gu Siyi gave instructions: “Xu Jie, Shu Yu get out.”
The two of them refused to heed and instead chose to stand stubbornly still in their respective places.
Gu Siyi said, “If you don’t follow the command, I will just have to report this to the instructor.”
The two of them immediately felt a little scared, the instructors were very strict about training in this school so they did not want to be reported. So finally after a heaving sigh, they went out. Besides, they thought, standing was easier than training.
The climate in early September was still very hot, and the occasional wind was sultry. The sun still hung high in the sky, roasting all the delicate girls. After Gu Siyi called out the two girls from the line, she ordered them to stand in military posture.
One of them stared at Gu Siyi, and whispered, “You did it on purpose! You deliberately picked on us!”
Gu Siyi was noncommittal. “If you don’t agree, go to the instructor to file a complaint.”
Gu Siyi stopped paying attention to them and walked back to the front of the team and said, “The sun is too much, let’s move to a cooler place.”
The group of girls was filled with joy. No one dared to say anything when the instructor was there under the scorching sun. Because the instructors are fierce, Longxing’s military training was notoriously strict, which exercised the students’ hard-working spirit. Everyone was prepared, and could only carry the burden. Unexpectedly, because of Gu Siyi, there was a sudden beam of light in the suffering.
Gu Siyi took everyone to a shaded area and continued. “Relax in place, don’t mess up the formation.”
Then, she returned to Xu Jie and Shu Yu and said, “I will teach you how to kick forward now.”
The two girls were about to die from anger. Do the other girls get to rest in the shade while they have to stay kicking in the sun?!
When the two of them were about to run away, Gu Siyi stared at them with a cold face. “I don’t care who you are playing with. Xu Na, I dare to fight, you think I’m scared of you? Now the instructor asks me to train you, I have the right to give you instructions. No, I also have the right to punish you if you refuse to obey.”
The two girls faced reality and finally stopped retaliating. Gu Siyi then professionally deduced their faults and coached the amateurs until they had the right poise.
The group of girls that was sent to the shade not far away was watching the scene unfold. The previously indifferent and opposing emotions melted a little bit without them knowing it.
“I think Gu Siyi is quite interesting,” someone whispered.
“I almost passed out from the sun, but fortunately, Gu Siyi brought us here.”
“Gu Siyi is so courageous, so let the water go, are you afraid that the instructor will criticize her later?”
“To be honest, Gu Siyi is not an easy master to provoke, and weigh her before offending her.”
“She seems to have a good relationship with Xia Zhijun? I saw her drinking Xia Zhijun’s water just now?”
“If someone bullies her, Xia Zhijun will support her, right?”
“Today the headteacher asked Gu Siyi to stand, and Xia Zhijun helped her get out of the situation.”
