The Fifty-Seventh Night (1)
Jiang Ran was obsessed with Christmas when studying in school, and her department would hold Xmas parties every year. After graduation, the festival became nothing more than an increase in the delivery of the goods.
“You just left the hospital, and you want to celebrate Christmas?” Jiang Ran looked at Feng Jing.
“——” Although Feng Jing felt that she was looking at him as if looking at a child who still believed in Santa Clause, he stubbornly said, “This is the first Christmas since we met, after all.”
“So it is, but you just left the hospital … let’s head back home first.”
“Ok—”
Uncle Zhou’s car was already waiting downstairs to pick them up. Feng Jing considered the problem of changing bodies and had originally wanted to go back to his own house, but his mom said that it was easier to take care of him in the Feng Mansion. Taking care of one wasn’t that different from taking care of two1*referring to two people, anyways. So Feng Jing accepted.
After knowing his decision, Mi Xie Er was very surprised. He asked him if he was not afraid of his family finding out about what happened to him at night. Feng Jing had thought to himself, my mother knows more than you, Mi XianEr.
The car drove smoothly to the Feng Mansion. Once inside the gate, through the car window, Feng Jing saw Er Huang playing in the garden. His mom was standing to the side, holding a frisbee in her hand, throwing it away for Er Huang to catch it in his mouth and bring it back.
Feng Jing: “——”
He knew this frisbee, his mother had bought it for him to play with in the past. 🙂
The car stopped in front of the house, Feng Jing and Jiang Ran got out of the car first and Er Huang came running happily to them.
“Woof, woof!” It seemed like he was very excited from not having seen Feng Jing in so long.
Jiang Rang caught and hugged him before he could leap onto Feng Jing. “Er Huang, please take it easy, he has just left the hospital and is still weak.”
“——” Feng Jing thought it necessary to explain once again, “I’m recovered, I’m really not weak.”
Jiang Ran ignored him. Er Huang barked at him, though.
Feng Jing patted the dog on his head. Ah, so he still couldn’t understand dogs. I really overthink.
“All right, let’s chat inside, don’t stand outside.” Mrs. Feng walked over and gestured at them to go in.
Feng Jing looked at the luggage in Uncle Zhou’s hands and asked, “Which room do I sleep in at night?”
Mother Feng noticed him pretending to be serious and smiled. “Your original room, of course.”
Feng Jing was at once more serious. “Isn’t that the room Jiang Rang sleeps in right now?”
“Ah, I forgot to mention that I’m moving back today,” said Jiang Rang.
“Why?”
“Because I originally only moved here to hide from reporters. Now that the situation has calmed down, and you have been discharged, they would most likely not come to my house again.”
Feng Jing responded seriously, “These reporters are very tricky, you never know, they could still be waiting downstairs at your house right now.”
“No way—”
“Yes way, they will do anything to make news.”
Mrs. Feng couldn’t listen anymore. “It’s okay, Jiang Rang has discussed this with us before. You two aren’t married so it’s not good for her to stay here with you, I had Feng Ping send her two bodyguards. In case of reporters, she will be safe.”
Feng Jing: “——”
Feng Jing went to check his room and as expected, he found that Jiang Rang had packed up her luggage. The small pink suitcase stood there making his heart sink.
“I heard Auntie say that she will prepare a feast for us at lunch, I’m looking forward to that,” said Jiang Rang while taking out Feng Jing’s clothes and folding them on his bed.
Feng Jing went forward and took the clothes from her hand, and rubbed her smooth hair. “You can leave it here, I’ll do it myself later.”
“All right.” Jiang Ran then teased him: “Usually your assistant helps you with this, are you sure you can do it?”
“——” Feng Jing patted her forehead with the hand that was still on her hair. “I have had an assistant for the last two years, how do you think I grew up?”
Jiang Rang smiled, taking his hand and going downstairs. There was still some time before lunch so they sat and chatted in the living room. Er Huang sat by Jiang Rang’s legs, looking very obedient.
Feng Ya looked at Er Huang lying on the floor and sounded surprised when she said, “Why do I feel like recently Er Huang is a lot cuter than when he’d just come over? He seems to be more obedient.”
Feng Jing: “——”
Jiang Rang peeled an apple and cut a small half for Feng Jing. “He might have found everything too unfamiliar those first few days and is better behaved now that he’s more familiar.”
Feng Ya didn’t pay much attention to what she said, her gaze drawn to the apple that was peeled. “Why do you still peel fruits for him? It’s understandable in the hospital, but now he’s discharged and you still indulge him, that’s not good!”
Feng Ya was preparing a lecture about how “men cannot be spoiled”, when Jiang Ran said with a light smile, “He peeled pomegranates for me before and that’s more troublesome than this, consider this repayment.”
Thinking of the bowl of the crystal clear pomegranate seeds, Jiang Rang smiled.
Feng Ya sneered at Feng Jing. “You peeled pomegranates for someone else? Heh, we’ve raised you for so many years, why have you never peeled them for Mother and me?”
Feng Jing lightly coughed. “Isn’t it that there’s someone who would peel it for you and Mother?”
Feng Ya exploded. “No one has peeled pomegranates for me before!”
“So next time you should choose to marry someone who would peel pomegranates for you,” said Feng Jing.
