The Fifty-Eighth Night (2)
He reached the seventh couple before he couldn’t bear to continue. He was inexplicably agitated. Then he opened the packet of Christmas candy Jiang Ran had given him, picked a red one, and popped it into his mouth.
The candy had a unique flavour he couldn’t guess. After biting it lightly he realised that it contained a nut. The sweet taste spread in his mouth and soothed his troubled mind. A smile clung onto the corners of his lips as his gaze rested on the well-wrapped envelope.
It should be alright if I open it now?
While thinking about it, he had already torn the envelope with his lean fingers and took out a … piece of paper?
Feng Jing was a little confused, this entire time he thought it was a Christmas card. Also, why does this stationery look familiar?
He only thought about it for a second, before recalling where he had seen the stationery before. Upon realization, he panicked. He quickly unfolded it and read through the content using the light from outside the car.
It was really the proposal letter he had written to Jiang Ran.
Feng Jing felt that his head was about to explode into a mass of paste. He couldn’t think about anything, but there were a lot of things whirling in his mind–how could Jiang Ran have this letter? Where did she find it? When did she see it?
He found that in this short moment, his palm was covered with a thin layer of sweat. At that moment the car started moving again and his eyes accidentally caught a line at the bottom of the piece of paper.
I’d love to.
Feng Jing’s pupil narrowed slightly. This sentence was not written by him, it was obviously not his handwriting, it was … Jiang Ran’s.
He stared at the words for a few minutes before his brain began to understand the meaning of the three words.
I wonder if I can have the honor to become your family someday?
— I’d love to.
“Uncle Zhou stop!” Feng Jing grabbed the seat and got up. “Go back to Watertown Apartments!”
Uncle Zhou was startled by his sudden action and could see how worried the other was – his eyes had reddened even. He didn’t say anything to stop the other, only asking Feng Jing to sit back down and fasten his seatbelt. “I can’t turn around here, I have to drive to a further crossroad. ”
Feng Jing was all muddled and very clear-headed at the same time – he clutched the letter tightly in his hand as if he were holding a treasure.
The return journey seemed to be faster than when he left, and when Feng Jing regained his presence of mind, the car was already parked once again under Jiang Ran’s apartment.
Feng Jing rushed out of the car almost the moment it stopped. Uncle Zhou watched at the hurrying figure, got out of the car, and lit a cigarette. “Ah, to be young again.”
Jiang Ran was using a hairdryer when she heard the doorbell dimly. She tilted her head in doubt and turned off the hairdryer. Now the sound of the doorbell was clearer.
“Woof!”
Er Huang was also barking by the door, Jiang Ran put down the hairdryer and walked over to take a look through the peephole.
It was Feng Jing.
“Did you forget something—” The moment she opened the door, she was pulled into an embrace before she could even finish speaking.
“——”
Feng Jing hugged her tightly, she could hear rapid breathing sounds over her head as if he had just sprinted 800m. “Yeah, I forgot my heart here.”
Jiang Ran: “——”
Did he suddenly come back just to flirt with her?
“You come in first,” she said while pushing away his hands that were attached to her like pliers.
Feng Jing finally let go of her, took a step forward then closed the door behind him.
“This…,” Feng Jing held up the letter in his hand, facing Jiang Ran. “Shouldn’t you explain this to me?”
The moment she saw the letter in his hand, her face turned red at a visible speed. “This … Shouldn’t you explain it to me?”
“I wanted to … propose to you, but I hadn’t decided when to give it to you yet…,” he said incoherently.
She blushed even more from his words. She buried her head and did not dare to look at him. “That day Mi Xie Er and I went to your house, he said he would bring some clothes to you … So then I went to your room and accidentally saw the letter.”
“I remember I put the letter in my drawer.” His voice fell from his head.
Jiang Ran was even more embarrassed. “Then you should remember to close the drawer!”
“——” He paused for a moment and then smiled unconsciously. “My fault.”
She curled her lips and complained a little. “Did you peek at the letter again? You were supposed to read it after you got home.”
“My fault again.” Feng Jing repeated, gently raising Jiang Ran’s chin, and kissing her lips.
His kiss was very soft and gentle, with a strong breath that was uniquely his Jiang Ran drowned in easily. He wrapped his arm around her waist and turned them around until she was leaning against the door, gradually deepening the kiss.
Clothes were taken off piece by piece, and yet their body temperature only kept heating up. Jiang Ran had just taken a bath and hadn’t dried her hair; her damp hair clung to her neck, a droplet of water slowly slipped down her hair.
Feng Jing leaned over and curled his tongue around the drop of water, the tip of his tongue slid over her skin teasingly making her shudder.
She knew what he wanted to do, and his body told her honestly. She was gradually swallowed by this sexually charged atmosphere, but she had not forgotten the doctor’s instructions. “You have just been discharged from hospital, you cannot exercise vigorously.”
“——” Feng Jing didn’t expect her to remember such things at this time. “Relax, it’s okay.”
“Your body … no …,”
“You think my body can’t satisfy you?”
“——” She didn’t mean that!
“I remember the cond*ms were in your cargo room, right? That 0.01mm one.” Feng Jing teasingly rubbed against her. “I’ll let you know at once how well my body can work.”
Jiang Ran: “——”
