She's A Legendary Demon Huntress [Rebirth] - Chapter 47
Stealing My Business (1)
The dark coat wrapped around the eagle-sparrow pair as they fell to the ground. Mi Wan took a few steps forward, but before she could add a barrier, the demonic aura suddenly surged again. A blazing red demonic power instantly erupted and was much fiercer than before. Mi Wan’s expression became stern as she took a few paces back to avoid it.
Bang!
The explosive demonic power blew the coat into smithereens and a male eagle shot into the sky.
“Xiaowang!” The sparrow spirit shifted into his human form when he was thrown aside by the demonic aura, his clothes were ripped, and there was blood trickling from the corner of his mouth as he gazed at the air bound eagle in despair.
Xiaowang had not completely lost his reasoning and was trying to subdue the demonic energy in his body. However, he was not very successful as his demonic power gradually reddened his dark eagle eyes, indicating that he was about to lose control.
“Go away!” Mi Wan yelled coldly. Channelling spiritual energy to her fingertips, she drew symbols in the air.
Didn’t they say that after 500 years, demons have degenerated to the point that they have difficulty transforming? Why is there such a high-level male eagle here? It was a pity that this majestic demonic power was not properly nurtured, causing it to erupt out of control.
The sparrow spirit’s eyes widened as a golden talisman containing immense murderous intent formed out of Mi Wan’s fingertips. Once ready to be deployed, it was aimed at his nephew who was struggling midair.
“Master, please stop!” The sparrow spirit ignored his own wounds and recklessly threw himself in front of the talisman. The spiritual glow on the talisman was enough to make all the hairs on his body stand in fear.
“Do you want to die? Step aside!” This talisman was specifically made to counter level seven demons. If it touched a level two demon like this little sparrow, it would turn them into dust.
“Master, this is my nephew. I brought him here so you can treat his illness. Please don’t kill him,” The sparrow spirit quickly explained.
“Liar. A sparrow and an eagle?” Think I’m blind or something?
“I will double your fee!” The sparrow spirit cried anxiously.
“Step aside!” As the red light in the air expanded, Mi Wan lost all patience. Her right hand shot out to block the sparrow spirit while her left hand pointed forward. A spiritual arrow shot into the air, transforming into a gigantic golden net trapping the red-eyed eagle in the middle.
“Seal!” Mi Wan abruptly pushed her fingers down, causing the net to shrink rapidly. Once again, the vast golden spiritual energy collided with the demonic power emitting from the young eagle’s body, generating one wave of turbulence after another.
“Boom Boom Boom~~”
After three consecutive clashes, the young eagle’s demonic power finally ran out. It completely lost consciousness and fell straight from the sky.
“Xiaowang~~” The sparrow spirit dashed forward in fright, picking up the fallen young eagle from the ground.
“Relax, no one died.” Mi Wan had one hand supporting her lower back, while the other wiped the sweat off her face.
This is exhausting~~~
Since rebirth, this was her first time invoking such high levels of spiritual energy. While she was offsetting the last three surges of demonic energy from the young eagle, she almost lost her hold.
After slowing down, Mi Wan finally recovered enough energy to walk towards the sparrow spirit’s direction. With each step, she began calculating her fee, “Little sparrow, let me tell you, the price of catching a demon…”
Bang!
After confirming that his nephew was unconscious and not dead, the sparrow spirit let out a sigh of relief and listened closely to the Master’s demands. However, while the Master was in the middle of talking, her eyes suddenly rolled back, and her 100+ kg body fell straight to the ground with a thud.
“Master?! Master?!!” The sparrow spirit immediately ran over anxiously. The domineering Mi Wan who had just single-handedly defeated a level seven demon now had a pale complexion as her breathing stopped, and showed no other signs of life.
“Xiaowang….Xiaowang killed the great demon hunter?” Holding his nephew in his arms, the sparrow spirit stood dazedly on the spot.
*
Meanwhile, at the Demon Hunter Association office, Bai Feng ran out of the dorms without changing out of his pyjamas.
“Where is it? Who lost control? Alert all level 7 and above demon hunters to be on standby,” Bai Feng ordered as he went over to look at the computer monitor responsible for detecting demonic aura indexes.
“Looks like…Looks like the surge is gone,” The demon hunter in charge of monitoring the index replied weakly.
“What did you say?”
“There was a demonic power surge detected near the eastern suburbs, but it’s gone now.” Since the length of the surge was barely a minute long, there was not enough time to pinpoint the exact coordinates.
“What do you mean it’s gone now?”
“M…Maybe it was some old demon that got drunk, came out for a walk, and just sobered up and…went back home?”
Bai Feng slapped him in anger, “I think you’re the one that’s drunk!”
As if he won’t wake up angry?
*
While the sparrow spirit and Bai Feng were dumbfounded, Mi Wan was faring no better. When she was about to tell the sparrow spirit about the additional costs of capturing a demon of this level, she hadn’t got even two words into the main point when her body suddenly felt lighter and she… … she just floated.
She could only stare at her own body while the sparrow spirit wept “Master, please don’t die,” as she floated further and further away.
Why did her soul choose to leave her body now?
Mi Wan was frustrated, but there was no helping it. She could only resign to letting her soul float back slowly, and while she was thinking about how she wanted to explain this to Fan Chen, Mi Wan came to a stop after floating around for a few hundred meters.
Ay… Why did I stop?
There was still quite a bit of distance away from Fan Chen’s courtyard. Mi Wan intuitively turned and looked ahead. At the end of the dark road, dressed in a trench coat, was Fan Chen walking over under the moonlight.
The moment Mi Wan looked in his direction, Fan Chen’s eyes also shifted towards her. He curled his finger and Mi Wan’s soul lightly floated over until she was right in front of him.
“Fan Chen, here you are. Take me back quickly.” Mi Wan did not have the time to ask Fan Chen why he had personally come over as she was anxious to return back to her body.
“You have exhausted too much spiritual power. You need to rest.” Fan Chen glanced at Mi Wan’s spirit form and did not rush to reabsorb the Celestial Vine’s power, allowing the Celestial Vine to repair the depleted spiritual energy in Mi Wan’s soul. When his Celestial Vine trapped Mi Wan, it was also protecting her soul at the same time, which was the reason Mi Wan was unable to reincarnate for 500 years after her death.
“Then hurry up and go collect my body, otherwise it’s going to be taken away and dissected!” Mi Wan had recently watched several police films and understood that if someone were to have died of unknown causes, they would be taken away and dissected by coroners.
Fan Chen also understood there was no time to delay, so he teleported and appeared in the blind spot of the surveillance just outside of the convenience store. When he was about to lift his hand and use demonic power to interfere with the surrounding surveillance cameras, he found that the nearby surveillance had already been shattered by the demonic power surge from before.
Well, that sure was convenient.
“Master, Master, please don’t die.” The sparrow spirit bawled his eyes out, too preoccupied to notice what was going on around him. He sounded so pitiful that it could make the listener cry.
However, Fan Chen was unmoved. He walked over to the tear-stricken sparrow spirit and gently said,
“Step aside.”
The sparrow spirit raised his sobbing head to find a human with a strong aura had appeared by his side at some point. For a moment, he forgot to cry and subconsciously pleaded, “Sir, can you please don’t call the police?”
Where did this idiot come from?
Fan Chen was so annoyed that he could feel an incessant throbbing headache. He decided to ignore the other party and bent over to carry Mi Wan.
“Take that male eagle in your arms and follow me.” With that, Fan Chen carried Mi Wan and turned to leave.
“Oh, ooH OH~” The sparrow spirit finally reacted. He could not feel any breath coming from this person, so he might not be an ordinary human like he initially thought. Without further ado, he carried his unconscious nephew and followed closely behind Fan Chen, and caught up with him.
“Fan Chen, add another seal on that small eagle. I only rendered it unconscious just now. Once it wakes up, its demonic power might go awry again.” After rebirth, the spiritual power in her body was insufficient, so she was unable to place a seal without her soul separating from her body.
“It won’t be a problem. It’s not waking up anytime soon.” Fan Chen had already observed the young eagle’s condition. He came out because he detected a level seven demon had lost control of their power and wanted to investigate it.
The sparrow spirit could not see Mi Wan’s spiritual form, so when he heard a sound coming from Fan Chen, he thought the other party was talking to him, and so he groggily asked, “What’s that?”
“That’s good. Then when can I return back to my body?” Mi Wan asked.
“In an hour.” Stepping through the gates of the courtyard, Fan Chen did not immediately enter the house, instead, he walked over to a flower bush in the middle of the yard. Though he did not make any movement, a slight tremor of demonic power emitted from his body, causing dozens of tender green vines to sprout from the ground, intertwining to create a “vine bed” large enough to hold for one person. Fan Chen transferred the body from his arms to the bed. The “vine bed” rustled and firmly supported the person.
“El…Elder?” The instant he felt the demonic power emitted by the growing plants, it made the sparrow spirit realize the massive difference in power between them.
Fan Chen ignored the sparrow spirit. After laying down Mi Wan’s body, he used the power of the Celestial Vine to place Mi Wan’s soul an inch above her body and instructed, “Give it an hour.”
Mi Wan nodded, understanding that she needed to lay down for an hour before she could get up again.
“Yes, Elder.” The sparrow spirit thought this elder demon was asking him to wait an hour, and after seeing the cultivation levels of the other party, instead of refuting, he immediately nodded and bowed, indicating that he would not leave.
Fan Chen finally gave him a look, and without any explanation, turned and went back into the house.
After Fan Chen left, there was only the sparrow spirit who remained as the sober demon in the courtyard. He turned to look at Mi Wan who was peacefully sleeping on the flower bush, and suddenly gave three respectful bows and bawled, “Master, it is all my fault.”
“I never thought that bringing Xiaowang away from the tribeland would cause his power to erupt. The original plan was to bring him to you to get treated, but before you could take a look at him, you were almost killed by Xiaowang the moment you laid eyes on each other!”
“Bah! Just who almost got killed at first sight?” Mi Wan felt her career track record had suffered its greatest insult tonight. 500 years ago, she would have directly torn apart level ten demons without fail. Does she look like someone who could be killed at sight by a level seven baby eagle? If her spiritual power had fully recovered and had she not changed her spiritual talisman from an attack-based move to a trap-based move, she would not have been in this embarrassing state in the first place!
“I even told my older sister that if you could cure Xiaowang, we would double your fee for treatment and diagnosis.”
“Oho, don’t worry, I’ll definitely triple the compensation later.”
The sparrow spirit felt extremely guilty for “killing” Mi Wan, and could not stop confessing his sins to Mi Wan’s “corpse.” Mi Wan was bored, so she answered all his rhetoric. The pair spoke to each other indifferently, but it was loud enough to annoy the courtyard’s owner.
“Shut up!” Fan Chen had finally had enough and sent an evil glare from the second floor balcony.
The sparrow spirit instantly closed his mouth, hugged his nephew, and tucked his neck down.
On the other hand, Mi Wan was completely oblivious as she happily complained to Fan Chen, “It’s a sparrow spirit, OF COURSE, it’s noisy and irritating.”
Fan Chen grimaced and felt mentally drained.
When the sparrow spirit was confessing his sins, he had mindfully lowered his voice. The one who was being a noisy disturbance was none other than a certain person in her spiritual state! That person’s voice was brash and loud and kept talking about money. It sounded even more annoying than his company’s financial director when they were talking about budget cuts. It was a good thing that the sparrow spirit had stopped talking, and without a reason to talk about how she was going to inflate his bill, Mi Wan gradually became silent.
Ah, peace at last…
