Commotion at the Club
Chapter Courtesy: Wang Mei
Gradually, the number of people in the classroom lessened, leaving only Shen Wanying, who’d stayed behind, and Huo Cheng, who’d refused to leave, in the classroom.
After another two or three minutes of awkward silence, Shen Wanying finally stood up and went over to the boy. “Huo Cheng, let’s go to the Archery Club.”
“Ok.” Huo Cheng stood up and they walked together to the club room.
The atmosphere between them was a little stiff. Pursing her lips and smiling, she presented an explanation to Huo Cheng. “The book you saw yesterday is indeed a romance between same-sex, but it isn’t a serious novel. This book is written by a well-known British author. The book discusses LGBTQ+ issues in-depth and really pays attention to LGBTQ+ communities. The work holds great social significance.”
“M-hm.” Huo Cheng only nodded his head as usual as he looked at Shen Wanying. “I already know.”
Shen Wanying: “——”
Wait, what do you already know?
Despite her calm facade, Shen Wanying was panicking within. “Please don’t misunderstand because of the book cover. The book is just a bit explicit, that’s why I put on another cover to cover it.”
“En.”
Shen Wanying: “——”
Good!
Huo Cheng didn’t seem the kind to go around spreading her secret, so she felt relieved.
As such, this matter could be regarded as concluded for the time being.
On the way to the club room, they wanted to find Tian Yu to get Huo Cheng a set of clothes, but the president was presently entangled with Fang Yichang– too busy to spare a moment.
Shen Wanying and Huo Cheng looked around for them for a while. It was obvious that Fang Yichang was not satisfied with Tian Yu, who’d made an exception for Huo Cheng by letting him join the Archery Club.
“Fang Yichang, don’t make a commotion here. The others may be afraid of you, but I’m not,” Tian Yu said, quick-tempered. He’d practiced archery for so many years, but he had yet to properly cultivate himself. “Furthermore, you have your own club, so why are you chasing me here and making a ruckus?”
At that time, Huo Cheng recalled that Fang Yichang had invited him to join his club before, so he asked Shen Wanying, “What club does Fang Yichang have?”
As far as he knew, Fang Yichang was a problematic student who gave teachers a headache. He was the only one who got into gang fights with others. Joining a club properly didn’t seem like his style.
“It’s a small group that he created before. Now it has been whitewashed and registered as a club called the Wushu Club.” Shen Wanying explained.
As the club name suggests, they liked to find fellow classmates and verify their martial knowledge when they were free.
However, Fang Yichang had learned martial arts and even won awards before, including a provincial award. Therefore, the club had managed to survive thus far and had not been banned by the school.
At Tian Yu’s question, Fang Yichang responded unreasonably. “I don’t really care! Anyway, if I can’t join, then he can’t join. Why did you make an exception for him? Where are your principles?”
“Why should I explain anything to you? Even the Club Union didn’t say anything. You just need to take care of yourself.” It was then that Tian Yu discovered the pair watching the commotion. “My Lady! Can’t you come over and help me knock some sense to him?”
Shen Wanying smiled and walked over with Huo Cheng. Fang Yichang’s arrogant aura had softened a lot in front of Shen Wanying. But the mere sight of her together with Huo Cheng made him even more unhappy.
“Our friend Huo Cheng has studied archery for many years. Because he is strong in this area, Tian Yu made an exception and let him join,” she explained.
Tian Yu immediately added: “He will represent our club in the future to win competitions. Can you?”
Fang Yichang snorted and sized up Huo Cheng. “You are indeed as I thought, not ordinary. Have you actually practiced archery?”
Huo Cheng didn’t answer him, instead, he looked at Tian Yu and said, “I didn’t promise you that I’d participate.”
Tian Yu: “——”
Shouldn’t they outwardly agree now?! For what reason had he pulled them onto the stage in the first place!
Tian Yu looked at Shen Wanying with resentment and sadness.
Letting out a short chuckle, she spoke up to help smooth things over. “This matter hasn’t been discussed yet. We will talk about it slowly later.”
Since Shen Wanying was here, Fang Yichang didn’t want to make trouble. Therefore, he could only leave unwillingly.
Before leaving, he didn’t forget to give Huo Cheng a quick look. “You’d better stay away from Our Lady.”
A calm Huo Cheng: “It has nothing to do with you.”
“Hey, you guys…” Hong Hong was about to attack again, but Fang Yichang dragged him out before he could do anything.
Hong Hong followed along unconvinced and asked him, “Brother Chang, what did you pull me away for? We should really teach that Huo Cheng a lesson, otherwise he will walk all over us.”
Fang Yichang glanced at him. “Do you think he didn’t walk all over us just now?”
Hong Hong: “——”
Fang Yichang hooked onto his shoulder and said to him, “I said, Huo Cheng… He– you shouldn’t provoke him. If you really want him dealt with, I will have to go personally.”
