Chapter 2 Everything Belongs to His Sister
Zhong Xiyou didn’t dare to think any deeper. He couldn’t. The more he did the more he felt breathless.
His eyes then fell upon the dinner tray to Zhong Youyou’s side. On it sat a lonesome bowl of white porridge that had been left untouched. A cold bowl of white porridge, that was it. There were no other dishes on the tray.
How could anyone eat this? He thought. How could my second sister, a weak patient, eat this?
The family servants were not filled in on the story. In fact, it was wide-spread among the servants that Zhong Youyou was an illegitimate child that had appeared out of nowhere. With that in mind, they had never put her in their eyes, or cared to notice how prejudiced she was. It was even very common for the servants to send her leftovers as her meals.
Thinking back on it, it wasn’t that he didn’t know about all this, but in his previous life, he didn’t really care to act on it. However, now, his heart suddenly burned with flames of anger.
He quickly turned around and walked out of her room.
It was early in the morning.
The chefs in charge of cooking—Master Wang, Zhang Ma, and two other servants—had long prepared breakfast and set it on the dining table, waiting for the Young Miss and Young Master to wake up. Mr. & Mrs. Zhong hadn’t yet returned from a trip abroad they had set on days before. That being the case, the servants dared not skimp on breakfast and prepared the exact number of dishes they always did. Toast, sushi, steak and corn soup. All to the taste of the Young Miss and Young Master.
What came as a surprise to the servants today, however, was that the young master didn’t come out of his room. But instead, the door to Zhong Youyou’s room was flung open and out stormed an angry Young Master.
To the servants, Zhong Xiyou was the most hard-to-read member in the family. He either seemed really impatient, or his eyes carried a bone-piercing coldness that told you to scram. Even if he was furious, he wouldn’t usually show it on his face. But, today…. What’s wrong with him today?
Zhang Ma was the first to open his mouth, “Young Master, is something the matter? Did that lass anger you again? Don’t bother yourself with her. When the Mistress returns, just tell her.” He then pulled Zhong Xiyou’s seat for him at the dining table.
When Zhang Ma’s words entered Zhong Xiyou’s ears, it only served to add fuel to the fire. He was already drowning in regret over how he had once treated his sister, yet Zhang Ma dared to utter such words!
“Is this how you usually make small reports?” Zhong Xiyou shot back, subconsciously letting out a sardonic chuckle.
His words caused Zhang Ma and the servants to freeze up for a second before a chill ran down their spine.
‘What was happening?’
When did the young master start to care about Zhong Xiyou? Hadn’t he always been indifferent towards her?

“Also, what do you mean by that girl?” Zhong Xiyou stared at her, and then he scanned the other servants, his expression incredibly foul. “She is my older sister, my biological older sister. If you dare address her loosely, much less with such a tone, again; you can pack your bags and piss off!
This outburst didn’t leave him satisfied, much less relieve the dull pain in his heart.
He swept the table with a quick glance before reaching to pick up two dishes. However, suddenly, his outstretched hand froze in the air.
It had suddenly dawned on him that he didn’t really know his sister’s preferences….
When it came to Meng Shixuan, he knew her favorites to a tee. On her birthday, he would buy her a specially customized cake with cherries. But when it came to Zhang Youyou, he was completely ignorant. He didn’t know what fruits she liked, much less what dishes she preferred.
He didn’t care to know before.
His second sister had stayed at this home for many years now, yet she was truly abandoned by them, her family.
Anger welled up inside him when that thought crossed his mind.
He took a few deep breaths to calm his mind and then took two plates, a plate full of green vegetables and another with steaming white porridge before heading towards Zhong Youyou’s room.
Thankfully, there was still a chance to amend the past. He could use this life to slowly know more about his second sister, especially her preferences in food. Since she was still recovering from illness, the food should not be too salty nor greasy; porridge was easily the best choice. Nice and hot. It will warm her up.
With that idea in mind, he turned around and ordered, “The porridge in my second sister’s room has turned cold. Hurry up and get rid of it.”
Zhang Ma and the others stared at him with astonishment. This turn of events didn’t fall short from a story out of the Arabian Nights!
Was he on drugs? Or maybe Zhong Youyou fed him ecstasy soup? He was suddenly a completely different person!
Zhang Ma was the first to react. She quickly trotted into Zhong Youyou’s room, took the cold porridge that was left untouched beside her bed, and went back out. When she was about to close the door, she turned her head to check on Zhong Xiyou’s expression. And to her horror, she noticed that he was staring at Zhong Youyou, whose eyes were completely blood-shot.
Zhang Ma was so scared she almost dropped the bowl in her hand.
With them coming in and out so much, Zhong Youyou couldn’t continue pretending to be asleep.
When Zhong Youyou read the novel, she used to hate the Zhong’s a lot. Especially Zhong Youyou’s mother, who was extremely eccentric! When the original host first arrived at the house, her mother immediately went and begged her husband to send her back in fear of her threatening the position of her beloved daughter, Meng Shixuan. She held no pity for her daughter who led a difficult life since birth. She’d rather throw her back into the turmoil.
As for Zhong Xiyou, he was only a seventeen year old boy. While he might have been a bit of a scumbag, he didn’t do anything excessive. He had mostly treated the original host with indifference, and only strived to protect Men Shixuan.
However, Zhong Youyou still doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. This feeling must have been mutual, anyway. What she didn’t expect was Zhong Xiyou not acting himself this morning. What she just heard from outside was really strange. What was happening?
She opened her tightly closed eyelids and looked at Zhong Xiyou.
