Chapter 37 (3)
Miao Yuan huddled beside Miao Jiang and watched TV absently. He Yuedi observed her actions and looked at her up and down. Miao Yuan couldn’t hold it and immediately whispered, “What did you tell him, mom?”
He Yuedi sat down beside her, “I talked about everything, marriage, house…”
“Ah,” Miao Yuan shrieked, “Did you talk to him about money?”
“What’s wrong with talking about money? Is your mother that coarse? I raised you up till now and instead of being paid, I need to spend 200,000 yuan for your marriage. I have no place to shout or express my loss!” He Yuedi stared at her.
Hearing her mom scolding, Miao Yuan’s neck shrank as she complained in a low voice, “The army clearly provides a pretty good house to live in. Yet you’re making him buy another one!”
“You don’t have your name on the real estate certificate. Even if you dare to live in this kind of house, I won’t let you live. You think that’s a home?!” He Yuedi hated iron for not becoming steel, so to mediate the situation Miao Jiang winked at Miao Yuan who could only surrender and obediently leaned over to hug her mother.
He Yuedi patted her daughter’s hair and said with emotion, “You should grow up too. Learn to do things more conscientiously. If you have something you want to do, discuss it with your family first.”
“Oh…” Miao Yuan’s voice was muffled, “I’m not even married yet, and you’re already helping me think about divorce.”
“You! This girl with no conscience!” He Yuedi suddenly felt sad and her voice was choked with emotion.
Miao Yuan immediately broke into a smile “Yep yep, As long as we are on the topic of divorce, I won’t even know how to consider it.”
He Yuedi squeezed Miao Yuan’s cheek with tears in her eyes, “The person is of your choice. If anything happens in the future, don’t come back to me with tears. You picked something, you’ve got to stick with it. You deserve it!”
“Yes, I know, for sure!” Miao Yuan nodded solemnly but instead it brought down He Yuedi’s tears even more. Miao Yuan didn’t do anything else and only rushed up to hold her mother’s shoulders.
“You will be marrying so far, with no relatives around you, and there would be no place for you to go to if a quarrel happens. It sounds nice to live on your own, but for things like decorating, spending on home appliances and so on, one ne will be there to guide you, it’s not practical! Do you think I like to think so much? Who am I doing this for, and I am not doing it for you? ” He Yuedi was very emotional and said all her complaints one by one.
“Yes, yes, what you said is so reasonable.” Miao Yuan dugs all her brains out to change the topic, “But speaking of houses, why do I seem to remember that the real estate certificate of this house has dad’s name on it.”
“Yes,” Miao Jiang smiled, “So I kept telling your mother that if you are annoyed, I will give you a suitcase, just put your clothes in and leave.”
He Yuedi finally couldn’t help laughing.
Before going to bed in the night, Miao Yuan said good night to her parents. He Yuedi was still worried. She said, “You don’t feel that talking about money hurts your feelings. Your dad and I don’t talk about money anymore. How many years have we come here? Your relationship has reached this point, and you are still young, and it is better to be more calm and steadfast about marriage.”
“Don’t think that talking about money will hurt someone’s feelings. Your father and I still talk about money now. How many years have passed? Our relationship has even reached this point. You are still young. It’s better to be more calm and down-to-earth about marriage.”
Miao Yuan firmly shook He Yuedi’s hand and said, “I would.”
He Yuedi smiled bitterly as she stared at her daughter’s back, Whether or it was a light question or not if you asked her she would still say she understood when in her heart she was still naive. There are so many things one will understand only after experiencing it themselves.
She obviously knew this, but she still wanted to give her all the insights and wisdom of life she herself had accumulated over the years.
Because that is her daughter.
