Chapter 2: Please Take Your Heroine Away
Xu Chenghao acted fast. He brushed the heroine’s hand away indifferently, took a step back, and chose to protect himself.
Seeing this, An Rouyu suddenly rushed up, hugging Xu Chenghao tightly and crying out, “Brother Hao, do you not want me anymore? You said you’d take care of Xiaoyu for the rest of your life, you made a promise…”
Xu Chenghao wanted to laugh a little. “Don’t you still remember the kind of relationship we were in when I said that?” he asked her, head lowered.
An Rouyu was taken aback for a moment.
Of course, she remembered. At that time, they were boyfriend and girlfriend and were even engaged to each other. Brother Hao loved her very much, that was why he promised to take care of her and spoil her for the rest of his life.
“But what sort of relationship do we have now?” Xu Chenghao’s voice was fluttering. Everything sounded so unreal, but each word pierced An Rouyu’s heart, causing her expression to turn pale quickly.
They have already broken up… For a long time, people in higher circles mocked Xu Chenghao because of this.
“I was moved when I heard you confess to Ruan Chenxuan just now, but now I feel completely helpless… When I tried my best to save you and stood in front of you to protect you from the wind and rain, all you could think about was him,” Xu Chenghao said coldly.
“What’s the point of everything I’ve done for you if I’m not even qualified to save you right now? After all, I’m not the person you’re looking for — am I?”
“I’m nothing more than an idiot in front of you, An Rouyu!”
The original soul was hell-bent on loving An Rouyu with all his heart and could not let go of this childhood love, but Xu Chenghao was different. He desperately wanted to end his relationship with the heroine today, in front of Jing Yicheng, this villain!
At the very least, this lunatic would not be offended in the future, his legs would not be crippled, and his Xu family would not be implicated in any way.
He quickly organized the thoughts in his heart before stretching a hand out. Under Jing Yicheng’s vigilant glare and An Rouyu’s shocked gaze, he pried the heroine’s fingers off of him and pushed her into Jing Yicheng’s arms.
This, your heroine, please take her away!
Jing Yicheng reacted quickly and held the heroine in place while his eyes remained fixed on Xu Chenghao.
He was suspicious.
He did not quite buy that such a devoted lover would suddenly give up and end things. He even suspected that the other party had other thoughts in mind, and this was all some sort of vain attempt to save An Rouyu with an act.
Xu Chenghao let him continue to look, his expression cold. Anyway, his eyes held no ounce of love for the heroine at all; they were clear and clean. When looking straight at him, Jing Yicheng even subconsciously avoided his stare.
Such clean eyes…
Jing Yicheng used to loathe the other party and only ever found him annoying as he hovered around An Rouyu, so he never took the time to look at him directly. Unexpectedly, the young master of the Xu family had such clean eyes.
The thoughts in his mind were fleeting, and Jing Yicheng quickly pulled his attention back to the current situation. Strengthening his hold on the heroine who was about to start struggling again, he led her in the direction of the helicopter.
In the end, An Rouyu succumbed to the man’s strength. She was carried on his shoulders like a sack of potatoes and walked straight toward the chopper.
She kept struggling on the man’s shoulder, crying and reaching out towards Xu Chenghao. “Brother Hao! Brother Hao, save me! Brother Hao—”
Because of her cries, the row of black-clad bodyguards waiting by the plane all looked at Xu Chenghao in unison. Several red laser dots were aimed at his forehead and chest. As long as he dared to rush toward Jing Yicheng’s back, he would be shot into a human cheese grater on the spot.
Unbeknownst to them, all Xu Chenghao wanted was for the heroine to let the original soul, who took care of her for more than 20 years, go. And to just stop yelling!
Otherwise, he would not have had to lose his legs had he been dumped directly!
An Rouyu, on the other hand, was already being carried inside. In a panic, she grabbed the edge of the helicopter door, struggling and crying. Jing Yicheng simply reached out and opened her fingers one by one, expressionlessly.
First, the index finger…
Then middle finger…
Just as despair filled An Rouyu, a roar suddenly came from afar.
Everyone’s movements stalled, and all turned their heads to look.
Zee — bzz —
A few modified cars came to a halt a short distance away, their tail lights flashing. When the doors opened, a group of soldiers in bulletproof vests and armed with weapons quickly exited the vehicle and lined up. Two men in suits and leather shoes stepped out of the car in the middle.
Xu Chenghao guessed that among the two, one of them must be the male lead.
They approached the aircraft while remaining in a safe area. One of them, a slightly older gentleman, stepped forward. “Mr. Jing, it is against the law for you to enter and exit the city armed with these weapons. Please put your weapons down and come with me immediately,” he said in a calm tone.
Presumably, the man’s words had some weight. Jing Yicheng paused for a moment before frowning, clearly displeased.
His grip on An Rouyu’s arm remained firm. It was as if he was calculating the odds of taking the heroine away by force.
The man did not back down and only continued to step forward. “The General is waiting for you, Mr. Jing.”
Xu Chenghao, who was attempting to blend into the background, suddenly remembered that this scene did exist in the novel. The male lead took his time arriving to invite this man — Major General Zhang Yun — to save the day, which he eventually did and succeeded in saving the heroine.
Incidentally, Major General Zhang Yun has always been the male lead’s golden finger against the villain. He would repeatedly assist the male lead in stopping the villain. Otherwise, because the male lead’s main strength was in the business world, there would have been nothing he could do to stop the villain.
Sure enough, after analyzing and evaluating the situation in his heart, Jing Yicheng could only regretfully give up the heroine in the end, choosing to retreat with his people instead.
Everything fit perfectly with the plot, and nothing was out of the ordinary.
