Little Boy Eagle (2)
“If I agreed to it, it would mean abandoning Xiaowang.” Wu Weiwei looked at the treetops in the distance. The young eagle was happily playing on the highest branch, “Xiaowei, aside from me, no one would care for him, do you get what I’m saying?”
“I understand.” It was the same when he was a child. When everyone thought that he could not transform and would ultimately degenerate to an ordinary sparrow, it was his sister who always protected him.
“And… I’m terrified.” Wu Wenwen gazed far into a distance with a blank expression, “The spiritual energy is thin in today’s world. The more powerful the demon species, the more difficult it is to conceive. If I were to get pregnant again and gave birth to sparrows, it would not bother the eagle clan the slightest. But what if it’s an eagle and one that is the same as Xiaowang? Xiaowei, sometimes I rather Xiaowang be a demon that’s in the process of degeneration. That would have been better than our current situation.”
“Sis!” Wu Wei looked at his older sister in disbelief. There was no mother in the demon race who would wish degeneration upon their child.
“I’m serious, Xiaowei, if Xiaowang were to degenerate, then it would at least not retain its human consciousness.” Wu Weiwei’s eyes reddened.
The heavens were too cruel to her son. He could neither be an ordinary demon nor an ordinary eagle, trapped in the middle with no benefits. Despite having high ambitions, he was buried away in the dirt and kept hidden away from the world.
“So please don’t try and talk me out of it. I refuse to bear a second child, nor would I leave Xiaowang behind. I will divorce your brother-in-law so that he can find another wife to bear him children for the eagle tribe.” Wu Weiwei covered her eyes in anguish before settling back to her previous calm self.
“Sis, you can’t just discard the feelings you have with my brother-in-law after so many years.” Compared to other demon races who only wished to use the fertility of sparrow spirits, Wu Weiwei and her husband did have feelings for one another. This was also the reason Wu Weiwei could linger in their tribeland and concentrate on taking care of their son without getting harassed for the last six years. Her husband, Qi Tian, shouldered all the burden from those who tried to oppose them, but six years had passed, and with Qi Wang (3) was not showing any progress, the eagle tribe needed an heir.
“I don’t have a choice.” Wu Wenwen did not want to either.
“You might.”
Wu Wenwen raised her head and looked questioning at her younger brother.
“Sis, did you notice anything different about me?” Wu Wei asked meaningfully.
Something different? Only now did Wu Wenwen begin to carefully observe her brother. Wu Wei seemed more energetic than before and his surrounding aura has also become stronger.
“Your demonic power…”
“That’s right. My demonic power has become stronger and I can freely shapeshift now.” Wu Wei nodded his head vigorously to prove to Wu Wenwen that she was not mistaken.
“How did you do that?” Wu Wenwen held onto Wu Wei’s hand in surprise, and after taking a careful look over Wu Wei’s body, she was happy to find that her brother was cleansed of his demonic poisoning, “The poison in your body…”
“Sis, I’m here today to specifically address this issue.” Wu Wei hastily explained, “I met a very powerful demon hunter out there.”
“A demon hunter?!” Wu Wenwen frowned in disgust.
“Sis, this demon hunter is not like the others. She was the one who cured my demonic poisoning and Jingjing.”
“Ji Jingjing?” Wu Wenwen also knew Ji Jingjing, so she naturally knew about her situation, “Her legs are cured?”
“That’s right.” Wu Wei continued, “I know you dislike the Demon Hunter Association, but this demon hunter is really different. She does not belong in the Demon Hunter Association. More importantly, she has powerful spiritual energy that can help cleanse demons of their demonic poisoning. That’s why I wonder if you would let her take a look at Xiaowang. Perhaps there’s a way to resolve Xiaowang’s explosive demonic power?”
“You want me to bring Xiaowang out?” Wu Weiwei immediately understood.
“Correct.” This was his intention for coming here.
“But…Xiaowang, he can’t leave the tribeland.”
Ever since Qi Wang was born, he attained the demonic power and body of a level seven demon. Demons who were level seven and beyond that could not control their powers can cause massive destruction in the mortal world. This was the reason why the Demon Hunter Association made an agreement with the eagle clan five years ago: Qi Wang was to never leave the tribeland. If Qi Wang were to leave the tribeland and his uncontrollable demonic powers caused casualties, the Demon Hunter Association will kill Qi Wang without hesitation. In other words, If Wu Wei wished to bring Qi Wang out, he would have to risk his life.
“Sis, this might be the only chance. Either Xiaowang is forever held back in life or he bets his life on a better future.” Wu Wei pointed out.
“But…” Wu Wenwen was unable to put her foot down when she thought about Qi Wang possibly dying.
“I want to go. Uncle, take me with you.” At this time, the eagle boy from far away suddenly spread his wings and zipped down like an arrow, landing firmly on Wu Wei’s shoulder.
As one that was born as a level seven demon, Qi Wang’s eyes and ears were exceptionally sharp. When he saw that his uncle had something to discuss with his mother, he intentionally made himself scarce. However, Qi Wang was still able to hear every word in their conversation. If it was any other discussion, he would have pretended that he did not hear a thing and would even fly further away to avoid eavesdropping. But when it came to issues concerning himself, he felt that he had every right to know and the right to decide.
“Xiaowang?” Seeing that Qi Wang had overheard them, complicated feelings rose from Wu Wenwen’s heart.
“Mom, I know you are worried about me, but I really don’t wish to live like this.” Qi Wang’s child-like voice said things that did not match his age, “Even ordinary eagles would be thrown over a cliff by their parents so they can learn how to fly. Can you do that for me too? Even if I die, I will still bravely fly on.”
“Sis…….” Wu Wei also looked expectantly towards her.
“Very well.” After a long pause, Wu Wenwen could hear the trembling in her voice. She had to throw her son over the cliff so that he could learn how to fly.
