The Twenty-Second Night
About where she should leave Er Huang in her absence, Jiang Ran had considered a lot. Of course, it was most convenient to leave him at the neighbor’s house, but Sister Wang, who had the best relationship with her, did not raise pets in her house. Nor did she have much contact with the other neighbors. On one hand, she was not willing to bother others, on the other, she was not certain whether this would be good for him.
Mr. Feng was close to Er Huang, but his identity was a bit mysterious. Today, he was driving a luxurious car, someone might especially help him wash his car, so he was quite possibly the young master of a well-off family.
As for her best friend Yan Huanhuan who lived in a house shared with her colleagues in City A, it was more inconvenient to keep dogs there. She asked Jiang Ran to put Er Huang in a pet shop but dispelled this idea just as fast after recalling several cases of pet abuse in pet shops.
After a good amount of thinking, she found that only He Zhiyuan was suitable for taking care of Er Huang. After she mentioned this to him, he agreed without even thinking twice.
“Mr. He is really kindhearted,” said Jiang Ran rubbing his head hurriedly. “Previously he sent us to the hospital, and now you’re taken care of again. You have to get along with him.”
Feng Jing: “—”
He felt that He Zhiyuan was just over-enthusiastic about Jiang Ran.
“All right.” Jiang Ran let go of Er Huang and went to the computer and sat down. Thinking of Mr. Feng, she thought about saying ‘hello’ to him, the next time they met.
【Da Keke Purchase1So far this was known as Great Ke Ke Imports, we are retaining the original name hereon: Mr. Feng, sorry to disturb you so late. I‘m going to visit my friend tomorrow and will return to China a week later. If you want to buy something please contact me after I return. :)】
【Da Keke Purchase: Or you can send a note to our shared moments, you can also book it if you want to. :)】
After sending these messages, Jiang Ran waited for a while without getting any response. She looked at the time on the lower right corner of her laptop screen and smiled. “He must be sleeping.”
“Woo-ff.” Er Huang squatted at her feet and barked understandingly.
“Er Huang, let’s sleep too.” Jiang Ran turned off her computer and set the box aside.
Feng Jing looked up at the computer for a while before jumping on the bay window and finding a comfortable spot to sleep.
Early the next morning, Feng Jing woke up fitfully. Before he was able to turn over and continue sleeping, he suddenly remembered something and quickly opened his eyes. He picked up the phone to check the time.
6.34 a.m.
Jiang Ran had sent him two messages last night, they were displayed on the top of the screen.
Has she departed already? He opened the message box and quickly replied.
【Feng: Sorry, I slept early last night and just saw this now. Are you leaving now?】
After waiting for about a minute, Jiang Ran replied.
【Da Keke Purchase: I am about to go out now. My flight is at 10.40 a.m..】
【Feng: I happen to be free today, let me take you to the airport then.】
【Da Keke Purchase: Oh, don’t bother. I’ve already asked a friend to pick me up.】
Friend? Feng Jing’s eyes narrowed slightly.
【Feng: Is it Mr. He who went for dinner with you last time?】
【Da Keke Purchase: Yes, he should be here soon.】
【Da Keke Purchase: I have to say, Mr. Feng, you woke up so early.】
【Feng: Yep, I’m taking a break these days. If I have work, I get up even earlier.】
Seeing that he started the topic about work, Jiang Ran hesitated, but she still asked the question that she had on her head for a while.
【Da Keke Purchase: What kind of work does Mr. Feng do? (⊙⊙)】
Feng Jing: “—”
I … Why did I dig a pit for myself …
Although he could have just lied and fooled around, he wanted to get along with Jiang Ran after his identity was revealed. He also did not like the idea of being dishonest to her. He thought about his answer thoroughly then typed away confidently.
【I work for an entertainment company.】
Entertainment? Jiang Ran frowned slightly, a night … club?
As soon as these two words appeared in her mind, Jiang Ran wanted to cover her face from embarrassment. How could she be so shameless as to think of him like that, but … Mr. Feng’s aura was really suitable for that field, he could most certainly kill his audience from fascination.
Definitely an emperor!
As her thoughts turned more and more random and unfettered, she stopped her thought train in time.
After Feng Jing finished his shower, he saw a familiar car parked downstairs. Soon, a conversant man came out of the car.
Oh, it’s Er Huang’s brother named He Zhiyuan, right?
He quickly changed his clothes and took his key to go out. When the elevator reached the seventh floor, Jiang Ran came over with her luggage. Feng Jing immediately went over to her.
She was surprised to see who was coming out from the elevator. “Mr. Feng, you’re also leaving so early?”
“Well, I am going downstairs to buy breakfast,” Feng Jing said, then took the suitcase in Jiang Ran’s hand, “Let me help you.”
“Haha, this is very light.”
Feng Jing found out soon enough as well; he looked at Jiang Ran with a doubt. “An empty case?”
“Yeah.” Jiang Ran nodded with a smile. “I specially prepared it for shopping. It should be full when I return.”
Feng Jing: “—”
He was lost.
“It’s not easy to carry so much, so let me take it for you.”
Feng Jing calmly pushed the two empty suitcases into the elevator. Jiang Ran immediately felt much more relaxed. Holding Er Huang in one hand she followed him into the elevator.
“Woo-ff.” Upon seeing Feng Jing, Er Huang began to wag his tail happily.
Feng Jing bent down and rubbed his neck then asked Jiang Ran, “You want to have the dog fostered by your friend as well?”
“Yeah.”
“Won’t he mistreat him?”
“No, Mr. He is very nice. When Er Huang was injured, he took him to the hospital.”
“Oh, well … but when you’re gone Er Huang would definitely miss you.”
Jiang Ran smiled and bent down to give Er Huang a little rub. “I have arranged with Mr. He to have a video call with Er Huang every day.”
Feng Jing: “—”
Feng Jing sneered inwardly. He guessed that this idea must have been proposed by Mr. He.
Yesterday, he had wanted to oppose the idea when he found out Jiang Ran was going to foster Er Huang at He Zhiyuan’s house. He did consider keeping Er Huang for a week, but he just couldn’t imagine what the canine would do when the clock struck midnight and he met with his original body.
He Zhiyuan should be the most suitable option, otherwise, Jiang Ran would not have chosen him at all. It wouldn’t be that bad anyway. As Sun Tzu said- If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. This chance could be used to spy on He Zhiyuan from a blind spot.
Ding!
The elevator stopped abruptly on the first floor. Jiang Ran led Er Huang out while Feng Jing walked beside her pushing her suitcases with each hand. It was still very early at this time so there weren’t that many people in the area. The air was fresh and clean with a lingering scent of grass. It was quite refreshing.
He Zhiyuan had parked his car downstairs. When he saw Jiang Ran and Feng Jing coming out side by side, he slightly hesitated in his footsteps.
“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting for so long.” Jiang Ran stepped up and greeted him. Er Huang also yielded to He Zhiyuan, apparently, he already knew him.
But he’s not acting as excited as he acts when he sees me. Feng Jing felt triumphant.
He Zhiyuan teased Er Huang then opened the trunk of the car and took the luggage from Feng Jing. “I will take that. Thank you very much.”
He smiled at Feng Jing as he put the two suitcases in the trunk. Feng Jing licked his lips as his eyes pondered, then quickly asked Jiang Ran what he had in mind, “Have you had breakfast yet? I was on my way to have it, shall I get you some?”
“Ah sorry, I just bought some and it’s in the car.” He Zhiyuan closed the trunk and pointed to the breakfast bag in the car.
Feng Jing: “—”
Feng Jing felt defeated but he had little hope anyway. Fine, you win for now. But you better watch out at 12 a.m. tonight.
Jiang Ran thanked He Zhiyuan then turned back to look at Feng Jing. “Mr. Feng, thank you too.”
Feng Jing looked at her wanting to say something, but finally said, “Be careful on the way and have fun.”
“Ok.”
Jiang Ran held Er Huang as she got into the car. Feng Jing watched He Zhiyuan drive away until they were out of view then turned back and went upstairs.
❆
In the car, Jiang Ran was having her breakfast. He Zhiyuan had bought her a bowl of seafood porridge, a glass of milk, and two small sandwiches.
“This sandwich is particularly delicious. This is my favorite kind,” said Jiang Ran as she took her first bite of the sandwich.
He smiled. “I do remember that you like sandwiches from that shop, so I bought them especially for you. I was afraid that they wouldn’t open this early, but it’s a good thing they were already selling then.”
Jiang Ran smiled and said, “No choice there. Life is harsh and they can only wake up early to work.”
“That’s right.” He Zhiyuan laughed but was still concerned about Feng Jing. “Oh, was Mr. Feng who just sent you down the same person I met at the door last time?”
“Yes, he came down to buy breakfast, and we just met.”
“He is?” He Zhiyuan thought for a while as if talking to himself, or verifying with Jiang Ran. “I always felt like he was an actor.”
Cough, cough. Jiang Ran almost choked on her sandwich at his words. She took a sip of milk and said, “Who? Feng Jing?”
He Zhiyuan looked at her, slightly surprised. “You also think so?”
“Mr. Feng indeed has a powerful aura and his surname is Feng. But how can a star like Feng Jing run to a neighborhood like this to rent a house?” said Jiang Ran, a small smile forming on her face.
He Zhiyuan nodded. “That makes sense.” After all, Tian Qin was known to have strict protocols binding its celebrities, they wouldn’t allow a star like Feng Jing to behave randomly like this.
At this time, ironically, Manager Qin, who did not know where Emperor Feng had moved to, was speaking on the phone with the said man.
- “I have negotiated with the producer about the request you made last time, and they’ve agreed, but you must try to ensure the shooting progress during the day. “
Feng Jing leaned casually on the sofa and replied, “Relax, I definitely won’t drag the crew.”
- “I hope you won’t. Now the script is still being revised. The movie is expected to start filming by the end of next month or the beginning of the month following next. Your shooting time is 90 days. Any comments?”
“No.”
- “Good. I will email a copy of the contract, you can check it later.”
“Okay.” Then, Feng Jing suddenly asked, “Manager Qin, can I go out for a week during my vacation?”
Qin Fan raised his eyebrows slightly.
- “Where do you want to go?”
“I don’t have to go too far … like Japan.”
- “No.”
Qin Fan simply rejected him.
- “Emperor Feng, don’t forget that you are still undergoing psychological counseling.”
Feng Jing: “—”
I’m being forced to undergo that, okay?
- “You’d better stay at home with your current condition like that, I will send the script to your email. Although the final draft is still being revised, the changes will not be too great. You should look at the script in advance to try and figure out the role.”
Sigh. “All right.”
He wasn’t actually sure that he would find Jiang Ran in Japan, but he liked the idea anyway. But for now, he had to think about how to get back at He Zhiyuan at midnight.
