The Fifty-Eighth Night (1)
Wang Zhen was in quite a big mess due to his ongoing divorce with Feng Ya. Not only did the Feng family intend to kick him out of the house and leave him nothing but also wanted to cause trouble for his company. Feng Ping had frequently pressured him recently, and the Wei family was his last hope.
At his words, Wei Sha replied casually, “Relax, my brother is following up on that.”
Wang Zhen frowned, he had heard this many times now. He rubbed his hands subconsciously, then said, “You know that Feng Ping is ruthless. My small company can’t beat his company. Without your help—”
Wei Sha was obviously impatient. Fortunately, at this time, her driver returned with the perfume. “Miss, your perfume.”
Wei Sha’s sight finally left her phone, and she looked up at the perfume on the table. “Mhm.” She put down her phone, opened the perfume, and sprayed it into the air. “It smells good.”
As Wang Zhen was interrupted, he couldn’t continue with what he was saying at the moment. He pursed his lips, then smiled and said, “Yeah, it suits you.”
“Right?” Wei Sha finally smiled at him. “Didn’t you say that there is a Christmas activity? Let’s go.”
“Alright.”
Wang Zhen picked up his coat on the chair and walked out of the dessert shop with Wei Sha.
Jiang Ran had finished cleaning up the living room at the moment. Feng Jing originally wanted to help her but was asked to watch Er Huang by her instead because of his injury. Noticing that the sun was starting to set, she went to the kitchen to prepare dinner for the day.
Feng Ya had bought a lot of things for her, so she picked out some that Feng Jing could eat and planned to make some regular home dishes. The dinner was not as rich as the lunch, but the two enjoyed the meal nonetheless. As for the black-out wine in the refrigerator, they had tacitly agreed to pretend not to have seen it without having to discuss it out loud.
After the meal, Feng Jing insisted on washing dishes, and Jiang Ran let him. When he was done, he found a bag of Christmas candy and a card placed neatly on the newly cleaned table. An envelope was wrapped around the card with a Christmas tree painted on it. On it, written in a beautiful, delicate hand were words:
To Feng Jing
“What is this?” Feng Jing picked up the envelope and candy and waved it at Jiang Ran.
Jiang Ran was playing with Er Huang and only looked back upon hearing him. “Oh, a Christmas present for you. You can eat the candy now, but you can’t open the card until you’re back home.”
Feng Jing couldn’t help but laugh. “What did you write? It is so mysterious.”
“I won’t tell you, any way you can’t open it now.”
“Okay.” Feng Jing didn’t unwrap the candy either. He planned to go back and open them together. “I’ve been in the hospital, so sorry I didn’t have the time to prepare a gift for you.”
“It doesn’t matter, anyway, my gift is very small.”
Feng Jing laughed. “I think it’s okay, pretty cute candy.”
While he was talking, his phone rang, it was Uncle Zhou saying that he was waiting for him downstairs. Feng Jing looked at his watch and said with some dissatisfaction, “It’s not even eight o’clock, do I have to go back so early?”
- “The Feng Mansion is pretty far from here, and there is a lot of traffic on the roads today. It’ll probably be around nine by the time we reach. The doctor said that you must watch your sleep schedule and go to bed before ten.”
“——” Feng Jing didn’t say anything, searching for an excuse to have Uncle Zhou wait a little longer.
Jiang Ran heard that Uncle Zhou had come to pick up Feng Jing, walked to the balcony, and looked down, and sure enough, she saw him.
“Uncle Zhou is here, hurry up and go home.”
Feng Jing: “——”
Nightlife hasn’t even started at this point!
“Woof.” Even Er Huang barked at him, seemingly urging him to go back early.
Feng Jing had no choice but to answer, “Okay, let me clean up, then I’ll come.”
- “Ok.”
After hanging up the phone, Feng Jing looked unhappy, Jiang Ran approached him, pinched his face, and coaxed, “Okay, I’ll come to you tomorrow.”
“——” This made him feel like he was being treated like a kid again, but those who didn’t take advantage of what was freely offered were little dogs. “That’s how you comfort me? By pinching my face? At least give me a kiss.”
Jiang Ran knew that he was ‘raising the price at the transaction location’, but still waved at him and said, “You bend down.”
Feng Jing bowed obediently, and she stood on tiptoe and pecked him on the lips. “Is that all right?”
Nope! He wanted to say so but finally stopped. “Then I’ll wait for you tomorrow.”
“Ok.”
Picking up his Christmas present, Feng Jing put on his coat and took off. Jiang Ran kept watching from the balcony. After a while, he stepped out of the building. As if he felt her gaze, he suddenly turned around and looked up.
Jiang Ran was stunned for a moment but eventually smiled and waved at him. Feng Jing’s brow gradually relaxed, and he waved with her.
Seeing him get into Uncle Zhou’s car, she returned to the living room. She changed her bed linen and pillowcases, left her luggage there, too lazy to unpack, going directly to the bathroom with her pajamas.
Feng Jing sat in the car and watched the street lights receding one by one. The streets were very lively tonight, there were crowds of people everywhere. When waiting at a red light, he got so bored he started counting how many couples there were outside the car.
