Chapter 48: Stealing My Business (1)
One hour later.
Mi Wan’s soul once again melded with her body, and like a carp, she flipped off from the “vine bed,” scaring the napping sparrow spirit who thought he had seen a ghost. When he opened his mouth to scream, the ‘Ah’ sound barely made it out before Mi Wan gave him a slap that reverted him back to his original form.
The screaming instantly turned into a series of “cheep cheep” sparrow sounds.
“Look at what time it is, why are you being loud?!” Mi Wan marched into Fan Chen’s living room with an eagle in her left hand and a sparrow in her right. Her casual movements would make one think she was the owner of the house.
Once inside the living room, Mi Wan threw the sparrow spirit to the ground, waited for him to shift back to his human form, before throwing the young eagle towards him. Then, she went over to grab the teapot on the table and poured herself a cup of water.
“Y… you’re not dead?” While in Mi Wan’s hand, he felt the warmth radiating from the other person’s body, and it made him suspect that this Master in front of him was a walking corpse.
“You wish.” After gulping down some water, Mi Wan sat on the chair and asked, “When you said illness, were you talking about this small eagle and his inability to control his demonic powers?”
“Yes” The sparrow spirit anxiously nodded his head, “Master, can you treat it?”
Mi Wan did not answer the sparrow spirit immediately, and instead asked sternly with a dark expression, “You knew this young eagle’s demonic powers were uncontrollable, and yet you dare bring him outside without any precautions?! It was a good thing I was around. Do you know the amount of destruction a level seven demon’s power can cause when they lose control?!”
The population density today far exceeded the numbers from 500 years ago. If a demon were to unleash their destructive powers, the number of casualties would be insurmountable. Not to mention, they were on a residential street. When Mi Wan thought about it, she felt she was drenched in cold sweats.
The incident just now had triggered her murderous intent.
“There is a seal on Xiaowang’s body and it has never been activated. I thought that nothing would happen if I brought him out of the tribeland. I don’t understand why the seal would lose its effectiveness just now.” In order to bring Qi Wang out of the tribeland, his older sister, Wu Wenwen had held back the guards and was even locked up because of this. He must get Qi Wang treated and bring him back to the eagle tribe to save his older sister.
“Because you left the tribeland.” Fan Chen’s voice suddenly resonated from the floor above them.
Both of them raised their heads to see Fan Chen standing on the stairs, holding a cup of Mi Wan’s cultivated medicine wine.
Mi Wan watched Fan Chen’s chest carefully. The medicine she made was constantly regenerating new tissue and blood at the injury site, but whenever new flesh grew back, a large portion of it would be destroyed by an unknown force. This cycle repeated itself over and over, and despite being under tremendous pain, Fan Chen spoke naturally in a relaxed tone.
Seeing this, Mi Wan could not help but frown.
“Is the seal related to the tribeland?” The sparrow spirit asked bewilderedly.
“The demon tribeland adds a bonus to all magical properties to their inhabitants,” Fan Chen explained, “When you took the young eagle away from the tribeland without authorization, without the added tribeland benefit to the magical properties on the seal, it naturally deteriorated. Also, after being repressed for so many years, the sudden demonic energy surge was too large and broke through the seal without any resistance.”
“No wonder…the Demon Hunter Association insisted that my brother-in-law keep Xiaowang captive within the tribeland.” The sparrow spirit finally understood now. He had always thought that the Demon Hunter Association were just afraid that Xiaowang’s uncontrolled powers would hurt humans, which was why they wanted Xiaowang to remain in the tribeland. It turns out the other reason was that they were afraid that the seal would not hold if he left the tribeland.
“Elder, Master, this is all my fault. If it wasn’t for you, I…I would have caused a calamity.” The sparrow spirit shivered from the aftershock. If Xiaowang’s power surge was not sealed in time just now, the Demon Hunter Association would’ve definitely led a crusade against the demon race, and he might even become the pariah of the sparrow-eagle tribes.
Fan Chen descended the stairs without commenting on the sparrow spirit’s apology. Instead, he reached out for the young eagle, “Give me the male eagle that’s in your arms.”
The sparrow spirit knew that if these two masters wasted to kill this uncle-nephew pair, they would have died a long time ago. So without hesitation, he immediately offered up the unconscious little eagle carefully with both hands.
Fan Chen held the young eagle in his hand, and after a simple investigation, he laid his right palm on the eagle and began absorbing the little eagle’s demonic energy. This continued on until a fiery red ball, that was no bigger than a pearl, floated out of the young eagle’s body.
“Elder.” The sparrow spirit was shocked. Why did the Elder pull out Xiaowang’s demonic source?
Fan Chen ignored him, his fingers emitted a faint wood-like demonic power. This wood-like demonic power was like a wild creeper plant, rapidly growing vines and branches that entwined around the red demonic source. Soon, the entire demonic source was densely wrapped up.
After this, Fan Chen relaxed his hand and the demonic source that was now covered in a green wrapper of vines returned back into the young eagle’s body.
“I added a seal onto his demonic source. His body’s demonic power has been reduced by 70%. Now, he should only function as a level three demon. Once he learns to freely control his demonic powers, the seal would gradually release itself.” Fan Chen returned the small eagle back to its uncle.
“You…You’re saying…” The sparrow spirit hugged his nephew, too overwhelmed to be coherent, “Xiaowang…Xiaowang is cured?”
Fan Chen nodded.
“Thank you, Elder.” Overwhelmed with gratitude, the sparrow spirit hugged the unconscious baby eagle and formally bowed towards Fan Chen.
At this point, Mi Wan quietly inched towards Fan Chen’s position. Fan Chen shot her a look of suspicion, only to find a pouting Mi Wan accusing unhappily, “You stole my business.”
Your yard is full of antiques and you are even an Earth King. How dare you steal my business?!
“… You can have the treatment fees.” Fan Chen was speechless. The ticket income from his parks rack was about a million yuan a day, who needed to steal her business?
Mi Wan’s eyes glimmered, her pouting lips instantly widened into a smile. It was as if spring had returned to the earth that second. Fan Chen had never seen a woman who could change moods so quickly so he was momentarily caught off guard and shifted his gaze away unnaturally.
“Hear that? You have to pay me for treatment.” Mi Wan immediately began settling accounts with the sparrow spirit, “Based on your previous suggestion, the treatment fees have doubled, and are now two million yuan. I also helped you stop the baby eagle from causing destruction, so the demon hunter fee…is another one million. That’s a total of three million, pay up.”
“Didn’t you say… I get 20% off?” The sparrow spirit asked carefully.
“Oh ho…” Mi Wan chuckled coldly.
“I’ll go back right now. When the bank opens, I will immediately contact you.” He didn’t have that much money, so he had to find his brother-in-law and exchange his little nephew for three million yuan.
“What are you waiting for?!” Mi Wan glared. She’s losing a few hundred yuan in interest every day if she did not get that money deposited in her investment account.
Without further delay, the sparrow spirit repeated his thanks, instantly transformed his arms into wings, and flew out of the courtyard to his destination.
“Why didn’t the eagle tribe nurture the baby eagle’s demonic powers? It was clearly born a genius, but they treated his talent like a disease and even sealed it in the tribelands.” The baby eagle’s situation was not an illness. It was just naturally born with extraordinarily strong demonic powers, so its demonic source had yet to adapt itself to his body. If the tribe elders had nurtured the baby eagle’s demonic powers after birth, everything would have been fine.
“Because they don’t have that ability,” Fan Chen replied indifferently.
Mi Wan froze and came to a realization. When she visited the Demon Hunter Association last time, Bai Feng had said that it was rare to find demons that were level six and above. The baby eagle was a level seven demon, so in order to help him nurture his demonic powers, it would require at least ten demons. To nurture someone else’s demonic powers consumed a lot of one’s self-cultivation, so not everyone would agree to it easily.
However… This fellow was able to achieve without breaking a sweat, just what level of cultivation had he achieved…?
“It’s almost five o’clock,” Fan Chen suddenly quipped.
“Oh~~” Mi Wan was momentarily stunned before coming to her senses and rushing out of the door.
“Crap, when did it get so late? I even have school today. I’m dead, dead, so dead…”
Fan Chen chuckled and shook his head.
